My Approach

Proudly providing virtual services as a Chronic Illness Therapist. I offer tele health based sessions for anyone living in the state of Florida, Alabama and Michigan (Therapy clients are required to be present in one of these states during our sessions).

In Therapy...

We will get curious about the landscape of your thoughts, feelings & behaviors as well as the social and cultural aspects of chronic illness.  Through a focus on self-compassion, we can better understand and learn from the past and work toward accepting what is happening in the present. I offer support through holding space for all your experiences while collaboratively setting goals so that you get what you need out of therapy. I strongly believe in clients taking an active role in their own treatment.

My Story

Chronic Illness is personal for me.  Having been through the rollercoaster of complex illnesses myself over the past 15 years, I know exactly how devastating and difficult it can be to live with a (or multiple) chronic illness.  Through my own struggle to adapt to a 'new normal' and redefine what was important to me as well as to focus on my own self care, I made it my life's mission to support others who experience a similar struggle.

I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2009.  I went on to graduate from the University of Michigan in 2013 with a Master of Social Work degree. I  became a School Social Worker for 3 years working mainly with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.  Throughout this process, I became diagnosed with several chronic diseases. This not only changed my life, it changed my perspective.  I learned first hand that there are few supports to help emotionally cope with this major life change. I also lived through the pandemic during the most severe points of my illness, with a real fear of how COVID might impact my highly vulnerable health. These experiences have strengthened my resolve for advocating on behalf of chronically ill and disable individuals and integrating this knowledge into my training as a therapist.  I have also pursued a diverse range of training to support clients, working to adapt them to this unique work. My favorite modalities are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Based Self Compassion.

Fun Fact: I am a Mom to two adorable golden retrievers named Kai and Marina, three rescue cats named Scrappy, Cali and Felix. I also am a visual artist in my spare time and an avid nature enthusiast.
